On a road outside Vigata is found the abandoned scooter of a girl, Susanna Mistretta, who at that time is passing a difficult time for her mother’s depression, now in her late life. The Commissioner finds in her fiancé Francis a valid help to shade the shadows on what seems like a strange abduction immediately.
After the kidnappers send a photo of the captive girl, thanks to the enlargement of this and to the testimonies of a woman forced to prostitute to pay for the care of her disabled husband, Montalbano finds that kidnapping was just a messinstench designed by the girl himself and Her uncle, falling in love with her young sister’s brother, and so eager to politically and politically prostrate her brother, the cause of her depression that led her to retire from life.
In the episode “The patience of the spideR”, Inspector Montalbano is caught with a case of kidnapping. The investigation into the finding of young Susanna Mistretta, belonging to a fallen family, brings the commissioner to various punctual locations.
Montalbano runs the staircase inside the Bruno-Modica palace to interview a young Susanna student’s partner, thus reaching the kitchen and living room of the palace located in via Garibaldi.
With extreme patience Montalbano weaves his canvas for the resolution of the case. The research leads him to the interior of the Belmonte Casino, Ispica quarry and the Larderia catacombs, the early Christian necropolis where the commissioner seeks the purse that contains the ransom, but in his place will only find newspapers.
